The coarse ore bins at our client’s site are over 60 years old.
We have an ongoing contract to inspect and ensure the structural soundness of the bins during their remaining life.
Modern Access Methods
We use a variety of methods to carry out our scope, including close-up inspection using crane box, and abseiling where other access is not practical. More recently we have visually examined the surfaces with a camera-mounted UAV.
Photos taken from the UAV are used to create a 3D model of the bins which is then used to monitor visible changes.
We have created structural design models that allow us to understand the stresses in the bins and make quick recommendations to ensure production is not affected.
